Analog Drip is a two-piece Pop Punk/Alternative Rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. They have been playing in bands together since high school and have the liver damage to back up the party lifestyle they portray in their lyrics. Connecting with the crowd isn’t hard when you write songs about good times, positivity, love lost and the sting of nostalgia. If you’re trying to have a good time and shake your money maker, you’re not going to find a better fit in the scene!
Analog Drip have just dropped the party anthem of the summer, with their classic pop punk infused new single “Party Song!“. The genesis of the song was a simple one for the Analog Drip: Fill a party sized hole in the modern music scene. The single has a throwback feel of a classic Blink – 182 mixed with the more modern style of new punk a la MGK. Along with the single, Analog Drip has released a video for “Party Song!”, which you can check out below!
We had a chance to chat with Analog Drip as part of our Refrain Interview Series:
Refrain Music Blog: Thanks for taking the time to do this interview. You have a new single out now. Tell us about it? What’s it called?
Analog Drip: It is our pleasure we’re excited to be talking to you! Our new single is titled “Party Song!”. It’s out everywhere for streaming and download.
RMB: What’s the single about?
AD: Party Song! Is about going out and having a good time with your friends and not worrying about what people think while you do it.
RMB: What’s the story on how it was recorded?
AD: This song was one that came along pretty quickly, I think we had all the lyrics and basic song setup written in 2-3 writing sessions. When we started writing the song we were just looking to create an awesome party song, but we were having trouble finding a hook, but we realized it was right in front of us “I wanna hear a fucking party song” was not only the motivation for writing the track but it turned out to be the perfect line to power the chorus. We recorded the song in a full day session with the amazing producer Josh Cobb at Rockbot Studios in Jacksonville, Florida.
RMB: Is it part of a larger album?
AD: As of now it isn’t a part of a larger album but by years end we will probably have a better idea of when we’re going to combine our singles to create either an LP or EP.
RMB: Tell us a little about the band. Who are the members and what do you each play?
Anthony Nolan: Analog Drip is made up of Ryan Josey on Guitars and vocals and Anthony Nolan on bass. We write the rest of the music as well, and get help making it happen in the studio from our great friend and producer Josh Cobb. Ryan and I have been best friends for over 16 years and have been writing/playing music together for almost that entire time. Funny thing is I never played any instrument until I met Ryan and he actually taught me how to play guitar and I only bought my first bass so I could join our previous band which formed in high school.
RMB: How long have you been together?
Anthony Nolan: Analog Drip formed in 2019 after Ryan and I called it quits on our former band Parkridge. We wanted a fresh start and new name to allow for a new direction in our sound.
RMB: What’s the one thing you are most proud of in your career so far?
AD: I would say I’m most proud of the fact we make music we love and have stayed true to our own inspirations and creative process.
RMB: If you had to pitch your music to a potential fan in less than 10 seconds, what would you say?
AD: I’d say if you want to have a good time and rock out to catchy fun music we are the band for you.
RMB: What’s one piece of advice you’ve gotten that you think everyone needs to hear or that has meant the most to you?
Ryan Josey: One thing that always stuck with me was when you write a song it doesn’t define you, just the moment you’re writing about. This has helped me write much more personal songs.
RMB: If you could go back in time, what’s a piece of advice you would give to a younger you?
AD: Take the business and promotion side of being in a band more serious. In our previous band we never gave enough thought to the process, and it cost us in the long run.
RMB: What’s coming up next for your musical project?
AD: Well we already have another single ready to drop soon, most likely sometime in August. And as we said earlier were excited to start looking for new members to finish putting together our live show and let everybody see these tunes on stage.
