With second single “Shout Louder”, common goldfish confirms his place in the old-school indie world

Trying to cement yourself within a genre is hard enough as it is, but the task is doubly hard when it’s a sound and style that’s been around for decades and just about every iteration of it already exists. However, that shouldn’t put anyone off. The enduring success of acoustic singer-songwriters or sugar coated pop artists should be enough to convince you of that. It’s even more worthwhile when a particular type of music comes from an authentic place of passion, which is just the case with common goldfish. The Tottenham-based artist who made a debut a few months back with “Feel The Fuzz” and now he’s following up with “Shout Louder”. It’s another product of time spent crafting in the producer-turned-artist’s North London studio. He embraces the nineties indie-rock sound through psychedelic melodies and euphoric piano chords that gives it a real feelgood sensation. While the upbeat tempo sparks that idea of a party or as common goldfish himself says “time being outside with friends”.

“I created the beat using a mix of 90’s break samples. Quite quickly I had the bass line and piano. I’d been watching the “Get Back” documentary, which definitely inspired the vocals and psychedelic guitar sounds. The track was making me think of being outside with friends in the sun, and the lyrics try to capture this.”

Keep up with common goldfish
