CyberTooth is a band from the year 3069 and the dimension 7969, or maybe just Myrtle Beach, SC, depending on who you ask. Their new single “Cold Reaction” just dropped and we had a chance to catch up with Eddy to chat about it as part of our Refrain Interview Series.
Refrain Music Blog: Thanks for taking the time to do this interview. You have a new single out now. What’s it called?
Eddy: The single is called Cold Reaction.
RMB: What is the song about?
Eddy: Pretty much if someone built an android and then it ended up hating the person. Very serious stuff I write about, haha.
RMB: Is this single part of an album?
Eddy: No, we initially released 3 as a self-titled E.P., then a one-off, and this is the second one-off. In time, once we release more material, I’m sure we will put it out altogether, probably on vinyl. until then I think the one-offs are the way to go for us.
RMB: How does this single differ from your previous work?
Eddy: This one is a bit more new wave and has more of an 80s pop influence than most of the others
RMB: What’s the story on how it was recorded?
Eddy: We recorded this one with Brian Mckenzie at Lazy Eye Studios here in Myrtle Beach. Brian is great so it didn’t take very long. This is the first one that has Jeff Wood on drums. Chris Canada, our last drummer moved to N.C. but is still with us he just drives down to us, he played guitar, and percussion, and did some samples on this song. Chris actually recorded every other song of ours as well.
RMB: Tell us a little about the band. Who all is in it and how did you form?
Eddy: Well we started what seems like days before the pandemic lockdown but we have all played together before in other bands. It’s now me, Eddy on guitar and vocals, Sean Lane on guitar and backing vocals, Jamie DLux on keys and guitar, Jon Cornwallis on bass and backing vocals, Chris Canada on percussion, keys, guitar, and running samples, and Jeff Wood on drums.

RMB: Who are some of your biggest musical influences?Â
Eddy: Many different genres. The Cullt. Faith No More. Oasis. Depeche mode. Cocksparrer and a million more.
RMB: What’s the one thing you are most proud of in your career so far?
Eddy: That’s tough to pick one! So I’ll just say being alive after touring in ultra shitty vans.
RMB: If you had to pitch your music to a potential fan in less than 10 seconds, what would you say?
Eddy: Hey! I promise it’s not the worst thing you’ve ever heard!
RMB: What’s one piece of advice you’ve gotten that you think everyone needs to hear or that has meant the most to you?
Eddy: Be grateful for what you have
RMB: If you could go back in time, what’s a piece of advice you would give to a younger you?
Eddy: Tour harder while you can.Â
RMB: What’s coming up next for your musical project?
Eddy: Well we are recording again very soon. I’m always messing around with ideas at my little home studio. Me and a few of the guys also do a project called Lawrence Larusso, which is a totally different sound with our friend A.J. in California. We have
just been recording our parts separately since we are so far apart.
RMB: Anything we haven’t thought of that you want to talk about? Now is the time!
Eddy: Just thanks to you, Refrain Music Blog. Thanks to Heart Riot Agency for hooking this up, and thanks to anyone that reads this and checks us out.
