VOXX is a Hard Rock from Tampa created in 2019 by Regis Vox after he decided to change the format of it from a solo project to a full band. Voxx recently performed at the 2021 Blue Ridge Festival and has been picked as one of the four finalists to perform as part of “The Next Big Thing” in Tampa this November!
We had a chance to chat with Regis Lima as part of our Refrain Interview Series.

Refrain Music Blog: Thanks for taking the time to do this interview. You have a new single out now. Tell us about it? What’s it called?
VOXX: It’s called “Never Look Back”, and it was written by producer Chris Dawson, Regis Lima (VOXX) and Jimmy Beattie
RMB: What’s the single about?
VOXX: It can be interpreted by different ways by the fans, “drugs”, ” surviving suicide”, “relationships”,…we rather let each fan feel the song the way they feel in their heart.
RMB: What’s the story on how it was recorded?
VOXX: It was recorded at the Aphotic Studio in Kansas with producer Chris Dawson. It wasn’t too long of a process, Regis (lead singer) sent Chris some song ideas he had and what he had in mind, so Chris and Jimmy came up with something that Regis felt in love with and he flew to Kansas to record the vocals. Which it was done on the same day.
RMB: Tell us about your previous work and how this differs from your previous work.
VOXX: We have an EP with 6 songs done previously, and this single is something we want to show that we are evolving as a band.

RMB: Tell us a little about the band. Who are the members and what do you each play?
VOXX: Regis Lima (lead singer), Harold Rule (guitar), Sterling Siegfried (drums), Ilyn Nathaniel (bass), Nathan Shepherd (guitar) and Jacob Bageard (guitar)
RMB: How long have you been together? When and how did you form?
VOXX: About 3 years ago. We had few different members, but we made some changes.
RMB: What’s the one thing you are most proud of in your career so far?
VOXX: This single just reached the billboard charts on the first week of its release, and it feels so good to be an independent band, with no label, no deep pockets, and no management to be able to “swim” with the big sharks backed up by big labels.
RMB: If you had to pitch your music to a potential fan in less than 10 seconds, what would you say?
VOXX: Check it out if you like High energy music and live performance!
RMB: What’s one piece of advice you’ve gotten that you think everyone needs to hear or that has meant the most to you?
VOXX: “Do music because you love it, and be authentic! Be you!”
RMB: If you could go back in time, what’s a piece of advice you would give to a younger you?
VOXX: “Make sure you Start playing music very young!”
RMB: What’s coming up next for your musical project?
VOXX: We have shows booked up to Jan 2022, and we are planning to book more shows and hopefully some festivals!
