If you are a fan of pop, can you enjoy an Industrial Metal band with pop influences? Denmark’s
Raunchy proves that music has one rule: be true to yourself. Founded by guitarist and keyboardist
Jesper Tilsted, bassist Jesper Kvist, and drummer Toft Hanson, this is one band who have never tried to fit into one specific genre.
Raunchy have released six albums beginning in 2001. Velvet Noise was first released in Scandinavia, to be followed in Europe in 2002, and finally North America in 2003. This first album features Lars Vognstrup on vocals. After its release, keyboardist and supporting vocalist Jeppe Christensen joined the band. Subsequently, the next five albums have featured two vocalists.
Vognstrup left the band in 2004 prior to the release of Confusion Bay, with Kasper Thompson replacing him. With the release of their sophomore album, the band easily created their signature sound. Confusion Bay began their journey to the spotlight. Things picked up rapidly from there , with the band performing an entire live concert on Danish National Radio. Raunchy have struck amazing balance between Metal and Pop music. The core of their music is energetic and upbeat.
The obvious Pop influences make for an unusual and extremely danceable sound. Raunchy are an excellent example of how a music genre typically considered depressive, is anything but. In need of a mood boost? Put some Raunchy on your playlist.

With Vices.Virtues.Visions. we witnessed how resilient and flexible this band is. This is the first album featuring Mike Semesky on vocals after the amicable departure of Kasper Thompson. Raunchy adapted to Semesky’s vocal style without compromising their sound and continue to excel in what they do. A Heavy Burden, from Wasteland Discotheque, featured both current at the time vocalists plus Vognstrup.
To experience this dynamic band yourself, stream their music wherever you like to listen. And enjoy.
