I played college ball and played a little semi pro, with aspirations of playing pro somewhere, before getting married and stopping competitive basketball. While growing up there were ten players who influenced my game, my swagger, & my life off the court the most from watching them.

- Allen Iverson
I loved Allen Iverson’s heart and the way he stayed aggressive. This influenced me to remain fearless at all times in life.
- Tracy Mcgrady
On the other end Tracy McGrady’s effortless scoring and lackadaisical aurora taught me to carry myself very smoothly no matter what, & make it look easy.
- Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant’s killer instinct and focus that stemmed from harping on negative doubts about his game from other people allows me to tap into a dark sort of strength when I feel people are doubtful towards me, and I feel the need to prove them wrong.
- Michael Jordan
I loved Michael Jordan’s enthusiasm for winning. We all know his resume so no need to go into detail. Whenever I feel like a winner and excited about staying on top of my game in life I remember the influence of studying Michael Jordan’s legendary career.
- Russell Westbrook
Next up is the Russell Westbrook mentality which basically reminds me of a bigger Allen Iverson so that’s self-explanatory as well. Sometimes in life you just have to put your head down and just go hard. We all are pretty much aware of those times.
- Steph Curry
Watching what Steph Curry has done in recent years has influenced a more mature me in a way that’s different from the traditional aggressive nature I loved in players. His outward humility and spirituality is something we can all learn from because as big of a superstar he has been, it doesn’t seem to go to his head. I used to gravitate towards the cocky aggressive guards, because I related to them more, but life has taught me to be more like Steph.
- Steve Nash
Steve Nash used to out-smart his opponents in an unselfish manner. Whenever I need to go in my bag mentally and construct a master plan I tap into my inner Steve Nash.
- Dwayne Wade
Dwayne Wade was somebody that heavily influenced me as I entered high school. The guy reminded me of a Jordan/Iverson mix to me and is married to an actress I used to crush on so that’s self-explanatory.
- Jason Kidd
Jason Kidd is someone that influenced me into understanding the nature of being unselfish in life. We are here to assist others and be of service so I’m constantly learning how to be great from assisting others like Jason Kidd.
- Derrick Rose
Lastly, the influence of Derrick Rose is huge for me. His perseverance after falling off the top of the mountain, and going through all those injuries is what life is all about. Rose’s quiet demeanor on the outside is something I relate to because his game is/was far from quiet. Raging on the inside, and calm on the outside. I love stories of people not accepting defeat and overcoming so his story hits home for me because I’ve took some hits on the chin and people like Rose remind me to keep swinging.
